Turn on Conversation
On the capture sheet, tap Conversation beside the record button. The first time, Compass reminds you to get consent from the people you record.
Record up to two hours
Pause and resume as you go. When you stop, the recording is saved on your phone first, and the upload carries on if you leave the app.
Watch it process
A checklist shows each stage as it happens: recording saved securely, upload complete, separating speakers, identifying participants, enhancing, drafting posts.
Confirm the people
Each voice gets a row. A name Compass heard in the conversation shows as likely, with the evidence and a timestamp. Tap to confirm it, rename it, mark "This is me", or link the voice to someone in your Memory.
Read it, or jump to it
The transcript reads by speaker. Tap a timestamp and the audio jumps there. The Enhanced tab gives the TL;DR, takeaways and action items, with who said each one and when.

The honest limits
- Get consent. In many places, recording a conversation without everyone agreeing is illegal.
- Each recording runs up to two hours, and conversation transcription is capped at 180 minutes a day.
- Processing takes a little while after you stop. It is not a live transcript.
- Speaker names are suggestions until you confirm them, and turns the transcription was unsure of are underlined so you can check them.

Questions
How does Compass know who is speaking?
The transcription separates the voices. A second pass reads the conversation for evidence of names, like "Hi, I'm Priya" or "Thanks, Marcus", and marks those names as likely. You confirm them with a tap.
I recorded a normal voice note and it was really a conversation. Can I fix that?
Yes. When a voice note reads like two people talking, Compass offers "Separate speakers?" and processes the same recording again with the speakers split. Nothing is recorded twice.
Can I leave the app while it processes?
Yes. The recording is saved on your phone first, and the upload continues in the background or after you reopen the app.
How long can a recording be?
Up to two hours per recording, with up to 180 minutes of conversation transcription a day.
Which service transcribes conversations?
